APPLIED BIOMECHANICS OF THE ATHLETE:

SPORTS REHABILITATION TO SPORTS PERFORMANCE

 

This course is designed to improve the athletic trainer and physical therapist’s care of athletes through improved understanding of athletic movement, sports biomechanics, performance testing and training.  The course will be a blend of current evidence based practice (research) and clinical experience.  This course will include a significant amount of lab time dedicated to practicing and analyzing athletic and sport specific movement.  This course will also include video case studies of athletes to demonstrate concepts.

Host sites determine the sport content area.  Available sports include: swimming, running, cycling, golf, basketball, pitching, tennis, pickleball, baseball hitting and wrestling.

Neurocognitive Rehabilitation and Return to Sport for Lower and Upper Extremity Injuries  is a new course offering for 2024.  This course is built off the concepts of the course we taught for APTA CSM in 2019, WPTA and IPTA in 2020, APTA WI and Toronto Blue Jays in 2023.  In this course learn new techniques for rehabilitation centered around motor learning with an external focus of attention, neurocognitive training, neuromuscular training and muscle performance factors beyond peak torque.  There is a full section dedicated to the latest research and new frontiers in return to sport after ACLR.  ACL injury prevention, surgical technique and videos, cases and more!  This course has a lot of interactive lab work to teach you ways to incorporate neurocognitive rehab strategies with your patients.  Inquire soon!
